Hello Moonbeams!!!
August is writing quite a story across the sky.
Six planets aligning, the Lion’s Gate Portal, the Perseid Meteor Shower, a New Moon Total Solar Eclipse in Leo…and end of month…a lunar eclipse.
Seriously, Universe?
On August 12, the New Moon crosses the Sun during a Total Solar Eclipse, followed by the Perseids lighting up the heavens. Then, on August 27–28…the Full Moon rises with a Lunar Eclipse.
First, the Sun disappears…then fire crosses the heavens…finally, the Moon enters shadow. OH MY!!!
Before we even arrive at our New Moon, we pass through the Lion’s Gate Portal, peaking on 8/8 as the Sun in Leo and Sirius— the Spiritual Sun—align. It’s powerful energy for intuition, transformation and getting quiet enough to hear what your soul has been trying to tell you. And this year, that energy spills right into this New Moon Total Solar Eclipse.
Bold. Fiery. Wild & heart-centered. This is Leo, after all…all about the drama, the love and, of course, the shine. But here’s the lovely little paradox—the New Moon is dark. So rather than looking outside ourselves for something to light the way, Leo turns us inward, toward our own inner Sun. Where have you forgotten your light? Where have you dimmed it just a little too much?
And let’s not forget the heart. Leo rules the heart, while all that fiery energy dances beautifully with the Solar Plexus Chakra—our center of confidence, courage and personal power. Heart and power. Love and courage. Pretty perfect New Moon medicine.
And then…there’s the Eclipse.
A New Moon is already a reset but add a Total Solar Eclipse and the Universe may decide to shake things up a bit. Eclipses bring endings, beginnings, unexpected turns…course corrections if you will. Sometimes what leaves is simply making room for what’s coming. Sometimes the Universe gives us a gentle nudge. Other times? Apparently, it schedules a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo.
So yes…expect a few twists.
Luckily, Venus in Libra is weaving a little sweetness through all this fire, bringing love, beauty and harmony along for the ride. And while love may be in the air, this isn’t only about romance. Bring some of that Venus love home to yourself. Radical. Radiant. Self-Love.
Maybe this New Moon isn’t asking you to become someone new at all…maybe it’s simply asking you to love—and shine as—more of who you already are.
A Little New Moon Magick
Turn inward. Journal, meditate, pull your cards or simply sit beneath the stars and listen. Work with sunstone, citrine, tiger’s eye, pyrite, carnelian or clear quartz. Light a gold, orange, yellow or white candle and focus on your Heart and Solar Plexus Chakras—love and personal power working together.
Then plant those vision seeds…What are you ready to create? What are you done carrying? Where have you been dimming your light? The sky may be dark, but your inner Sun is still shining.
