The Hunter’s Moon — A Little Wild Magick Before Samhain

October 26, 2026 | Full Moon in Taurus | 12:11 AM Eastern

There’s something deliciously witchy about an October Full Moon, especially one arriving just days before Samhain, when the Wheel of the Year turns once again and we prepare to wander into the darker, quieter half of the seasons.

The air feels a little different now. The nights grow longer, the shadows deepen, and there's that familiar whisper of ancient magick stirring in the autumn wind. And oh, this Hunter’s Moon has a little something extra brewing in her cauldron!

This Hunter’s Moon may appear unusually large as she rises among bare branches and fading autumn leaves. A beautiful trick of perception, perhaps, but also a fitting reminder of this Moon’s ancient wisdom: gather what nourishes you, honor what you've harvested, and release what no longer belongs.

With the Full Moon in grounded Taurus and the Sun in mysterious Scorpio, a little soul-searching magick is brewing! Taurus calls us home to our bodies, our roots, and the simple pleasures that bring comfort. Scorpio invites us to explore the shadows, uncover hidden truths, and embrace transformation.

With Venus retrograde in Scorpio and Mercury beginning its own backward dance, old feelings, relationships, and questions surrounding security, money, and self-worth may resurface.

Take your time, beautiful souls. Listen before reacting. Feel before deciding. And remember that your worth has never been measured by what you own, what you accomplish, or how much you carry for others. You are enough, just as you are.

Samhain Is Whispering — The Witch's New Year Approaches

For those of us who walk the old paths, Samhain is so much more than costumes, pumpkins, and things that go bump in the night. It is the Witch's New Year, a sacred threshold between what has been and what is yet to come. A time to honor our ancestors, remember those who have crossed over, and acknowledge the generations of wisdom that live within us.

Tradition tells us that the veil between worlds grows thin during this season, allowing us to feel a little closer to those who walked before us. Perhaps their presence comes through a familiar scent, an unexpected memory, or a dream that lingers into morning. A little ancestral magick reminding us that love and wisdom never truly disappear. Like the trees releasing their leaves, we too can let go of what has served its season.

A Little Hunter's Moon Magick — Keep It Simple, Keep It Sacred

Keep it simple, my wild-hearted witches. Light a candle, burn a little incense, anoint yourself with your favorite Blue Moon ritual oil, and pour a cup of something warm. Create a small ancestor altar, pull a Tarot card, or simply sit beneath Mama Moon and ask yourself:

  • What am I holding onto simply because it feels familiar?

  • What wisdom have my ancestors and life’s experiences passed on to me?

  • What truly grounds me when the world feels uncertain?

Keep your grounding practice wonderfully simple. Place your hands over your heart. Breathe slowly. Feel the weight of your body supported by the earth. Notice the scents, sounds, and sensations around you. Come back to yourself. Let the Moon remind you that you don't have to carry everything into the next season.

Nature knows there is a season for blooming, gathering, releasing, and resting. So dance beneath the Hunter’s Moon, speak the names of your ancestors, stir a little magick into your tea, and leave a few old burdens behind.

The old year is drawing to a close, the cauldron is bubbling, and the veil is growing thin. And somewhere between the last golden leaves and the first whispers of Samhain, a little wild magick is waiting for us.

Blessed Hunter's Moon, my beautiful wild-hearted souls. May your roots grow deep, your heart remain open, your spirit stay wonderfully free, and your inner witch never forget the magick she carries within.

With love & wild magick,

Debbi
